Violet Rain
This 50/50 blend of Finnsheep and alpaca fiber has sheen, drape, and bounce. It's semi-woolen spin has had a bit of extra twist added to the ply to give better stitch definition than one would normally find in a farm yarn. Care Instruction
Gently hand wash using a quality wool wash. Lie flat to dry.
A Note on Yardage
Our yarn comes from the mill already in skeins. We have found that mill put ups can be highly variable with some skeins as much as 10-15 yards shorter than stated by the mill. We label our yarn according to the mill order, so we recommend ordering more yarn than you think you will need.
Finding Gauge
The small mills that produce many farm yarns assign a yarn weight based on something called grist. Grist is basically how many yards of yarn you get for a specific weight. While grist holds true for many yarns, some lighter, fluffier yarns may not knit up as expected if you trust grist entirely. It is very possible that the mill may assign a weight category based on grist and the yarn may behave as an entirely different one. For this reason, we advise that when using farm yarns, you should always swatch for any projects that require an accurate fit. Take the mill-assigned yarn weight as a starting point and let your needles and hooks verify it for you.
